The moon has no light of its own. What we see when we witness the brightness of the moon at night is simply a reflection of the light of the sun. While God has created you to be great, your greatness must always be a reflection of His. God’s greatness, which you are to reflect, was demonstrated clearly through His Son who “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). In other words, your greatness ought to be making the lives within your circle of influence better, and not worse. Your greatness ought to inspire other men to want to be like you because they see your impact for good in the lives of others. Achieving greatness doesn’t mean your name will always be the one in lights on the scoreboard. Achieving greatness means maximizing all that you are destined to be for the glory of God and for the good of others. One of the greatest players on a football team is the punter. If the punter does not consistently give the opposing team the worst possible field position, the game can change. Momentum can change. The score can change. The outcome can change. Yet how many fans even know the name of the punter on football teams? But known or unknown, he still needs to be great. Known or unknown, you need to be great. Greatness for a kingdom man begins by aligning yourself under God’s kingdom agenda and in so doing, benefiting others. Make the decision that not only do you want greatness, but that you are going to pursue it according to God’s method for getting it. Now, I understand that making that decision might be difficult. Perhaps you feel like life’s circumstances have dealt you a raw hand. It could be different reasons for different men – perhaps you are facing racial marginalization, or perhaps you were raised without a father or a positive male role model. It could be that you are living in financial struggle, or maybe your co-workers or boss at work are not being fair. Maybe your family is currently in shambles, or you have already set the tone for passive leadership in your home. Whatever the odds, never let those odds determine your destiny. God has destined you for greatness. Jesus said that if you believe in Him, you will do greater works than He did. He didn’t say that you might do them. He didn’t even say that you could do them. Jesus said that, if you believe, you will do them. (Get Tony Evans book "The Kingdom Man" to read more)

There is no magic formula that can assure you a great life. If any words could accomplish it, I would say surrender and devotion. Nothing can take the place of a daily devotional life with Christ. Your quiet time, your prayer time, the time you spend in the Word, is absolutely essential for a happy Christian life. You cannot possibly be a happy, dynamic, and powerful Christian apart from a daily walk with Christ. Christ is calling Christians today to full surrender. It will make the difference between success and failure in your life. It will make a difference in your habits, in your prayer life, in your Bible reading, in your giving, in your testimony, and in your church. This is the time for Christians to step up and live boldly for God. There are millions of people who know about Jesus, but don't know Jesus. Why can't today be the day you make some introductions... I think one of the toughest things to deal with in life is to be ignored. Especially by close friends, mentors or family that you have loved, prayed for and invested in. Nothing prepares you for facing it. As an older person, one might think.., no matter what.., just because of age, or experience... or love shown that it would be right to be kind... to say hello and be truly genuine in caring. Today was a tough day. The definition of Honor in this earthly life has nothing to do with position or rank or employment or finances. It has to do with perspective from a standpoint of love, gratitude and sacrifice. Viewing others as Jesus views them. Wanting above all to please Him and be a conduit of his love and mercy. To .... for a moment see what they have been through and honor that journey. Bottom line... we press on. Knowing that God knows. And we did it for Him. And .... Jesus should get all of the honor always....and may we be honoring to others because it is the right thing to do. |
